Also, will my extended warranty cover it? When I bought it the dealer said something about his friend blah blah blah, same problem but her engine blew, if she had the warranty she would have been protected. My friend borrowed my car so she could screw around on her bf, and when I got it back it was screwed up. She busted the oil pan.

The pan will be $75-$100, one hour of labor at most shops.
So, probably about $200 out the door. Its a bolt on but it can be tricky since youd have to drain the oil, get messy, etc…

I have a used 2002 vw bug and I know the stereo has been removed, but put back in by the vw dealer. I also know that it used to have some sort of cd changer in the trunk. So, why is it still making this fuzzy/ static noise and how can I fix it?
ps. I know nothing about cars/stereos.

In are first Db drag car we had this same problem what we discovered was that it is “ground loop” witch means the ground the apm was hooked to was not good enough and we fixed it by hooking the apm’s ground rite the battery instead of the frame. Another thing it could be is the speaker wire is to close to a powere supply and causing interferince or it could be way simple and just be a blown speaker…good luck

I have a Golf Mk 5 GT TDI 170. A few months ago it developed a knocking noise which has got steadily worse. 2 trips to my local VW dealer and they can’t tell me what’s wrong. The noise seems to come from underneath roughly where the driver/passenger sit. It sometimes clunks when I let the clutch out and will sometimes knock whilst driving over rough-ish ground. However, the sound is, about 90% of the time, ‘rotational’ and will pick up and drop off with the car’s speed. It’s worse while coasting or driving on the flat with no pressure on the gas pedal. Any pressure on the gas pedal seems to stop it (or drown the noise out) but on lift-off it’s back again. I can also hear it whilst shooting up the motorway at 70mph. This weekend was the worse ever and it got to the point where I thought something would fall off or break completely. I think failing rubber bushes on the exhaust system has been discounted and my VW dealer is saying it might be an intermittent drive shaft problem but don’t want to replace it unless they’re sure. I’m worried the car will go ‘bang’ one day when far from home. Any ideas?? Help!!!!!

Some of these are equipped with a dual-mass flywheel that is likely to separate a little. When you place it under torque, it’s forced into a position where it can’t flex and rattle, and the noise goes away. If you’re going downhill or just maintaining speed, the flywheel halves are able to rattle around. Usually this is caused by repeated hard launches. It’s a relatively cheap fix, but difficult to confirm without separating the engine from the trans. Should be covered under warranty if you’re within miles. If it’s outside warranty, it may be affected by a recall.
On the positive side, it’s not likely to explode, but it will get louder and scarier as time goes on and could be bad for the crank bearings, crank seal, throw-out bearing, clutch pack and trans seals and input shaft bearing if allowed to continue.

I have had it not quite a year and have had lots of trouble with it starting. I have taken it to the dealer and they have put it on their diagnostic machine and have come up with nothing. I do get the check engine light all the time and a notice of emissions check. What does that mean? I,m desparate, I love to drive it when it’s not acting up but this is getting really frusturating. Any suggesstions?
Ok, when I turn it over, it cranks but doesn’t start right away. I have to turn it over several times before it will finally start and quickly give it gas. As far as the warning light goes, It has been on pretty consistanly for the passed few weeks. Also, my ABS warning light comes on occassionally. Hope that helps and thank you!
