Maria asks…

Its posibel to use an 1.6 polo 2001 clasic transmission in a 2.0 WV jetta 2000 -?

Volkswagen polo classic 1.6 2001 & Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 2000 ISSUES?

Carman answers:

Yes
but first you must buy a trans-conductor and attach it to the transmission.
The trans-conductor can be found at most auto shops.
Just go in and ask for one, they’ll know what you’re talking about

Lizzie asks…

are ford escort’s better than volkswagen jetta?

is a 1995 ford escort LX better than a 2001 volkswagen jetta

Carman answers:

NO, pretty much not even close. In fact I get repulsed putting them in the same sentence. I am amazed the Ford is still running and come on it is six years older for cryin out loud!

Susan asks…

is ford escort’s better than volkswagen jetta’s?

is a 1995 ford escort LX better than 2001 volkswagen jetta

Carman answers:

I think so on gas and easy maintenance. The vw is a pain to work on.

Nancy asks…

How much does it cost to replace volkswagen brake pads?

I have a 2001 volkswagen jetta

Carman answers:

Front brake pads. I’ve seen signs that range from $100 to $150 for labor. Parts shouldn’t cost you over $50. If you need to surface anything or install any thing else the price goes up even more.

Laura asks…

How do I get the “Check Engine” light off for my 2001 VW jetta long enough for it to pass inspection?

My 2001 Volkswagen Jetta has the ‘Check Engine’ light on, and therefore, won’t pass my state’s emissions test. I need to get it off, at least temporarily, just to get it passed. One mechanic already told me it’s an O2 indicator and a specific VW error code that can only be read by the dealership (translation: expensive). Any suggestions on getting the light off? I’ve heard some solutions, like disconnecting the positive cable to the battery. Will this work?

Carman answers:

You can go to an auto parts store and they should be able to erase the code for you and that should turn the light off. The problem is that you can’t go straight to the emissions test from there because the computer will show too many things “not ready”. In other words the computer will not be reset yet. You will have to do a “drive cycle” which is between 50 and 100 miles. If you can do the drive cycle and get the emissions test done before the code sets again, then you’ll be good to go.

Good luck.
